Playoffs

The leafs are headed for playoffs, and as it stands now it appears that boston will be playing them. The physical teams will be clashing and its apparent that no matter what happens, leafs still made it to the playoffs. My predictions for the series are that it goes to 6 games and that leafs win 4-2. Its very important that the leafs match the physicality and also point shots with screens so that Tuukka Rask cant continue to be on point for success. Much more to continue.

Leafs Vs Montreal

Hockey Night in Canada happened last night and this was the huge rivalry, of Toronto vs Montreal. Toronto killed the rivals last night 5-1 as they get closer and closer to the playoffs. 7 Games out from the playoffs and its almost a guaranteed spot in the playoffs after 7 years not being able to make it, an/or not even get close. Randy Carlisle has been able to bring a very physical team in this year with Phaneuf, Maclaren, Obyrne and others who just destroy on defence and offence. Even Boston could not bypass toronto's offensive prowess and create a great opportunity for a strong team this year. Lupul has had injuries but has come back stronger and that is what he is going to be able to do. In the first period Maclaren dropped gloves with Brandon Prust and put him on the ground. This sparked up a rivalry between Kadri and Galchenyuk, Kadri 23, and Galchenyuk 20, starting to get heated as the game went on. In the third period there was no goals and the leafs should have had a shutout, but Reimer got unlucky.

Leafs Making a Statement

Leafs these days are killing it in the franchise. Joffrey Lupul got injured and came back and pulled a crosby performance. It is unbelievable how well the leafs are playing this year and fingers crossed, will make the playoffs and heaven forbid win the cup. The leafs just picked up Ryan O'Byrne from Colorado Avalanche after trading away Mike Brown F, and David Steckel to Tampa Bay. The Leafs are in 5th place right now with playoffs closely approaching. Hot teams right now include washington, Pittsburgh and Boston, the hard hitting team. It shows that its been long enough since the cup has been in Toronto's hands. About as old as my mom which is almost 45 years ago.

Soccer Central

Soccer has been crazy these past 2 weeks. Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered 63 million dollars from Manchester United to go back to his starting career team. Of course fans want him to come over, but it is less likely that he will because of what he has accomplished within real madrid, and any club that he would join. Messi had won the Ballon D'Or which is basically a trophy saying he is the best. The funny part about it is, millions of people have seen that when Ronaldo gets on the field, that messi "disappears" and doesnt produce any offence like his usual 93 goals a season self. Ronaldo is also a very humble guy, probably the best athlete out there and has girls that swarm to him, what more could he want? He states that he is "going home" as he plays Manchester United once again in champions league on this tuesday coming. It is said that ronaldo will play his best football he possibly can, to show that sir alex ferguson is making the best decision, and hoping that ronaldo will once again, bring himself back "home".

Toronto Make Me Laughs?

13 and 9. Thats almost half way to the end of regular season before the leafs will heaven forbid, make the playoffs. Just the other night, Nazem Kadri sniped his first career hat-trick beating the Ottawa Senators. It seems that the leafs are really getting a grasp on what they need to do to beat high level teams. Right now they are in 6th spot in the eastern conference, and are playing tomorrow. Generally it makes sense that Kessel, Bozak and Phaneuf are all in the top point getters for the leafs, But Nazem Kadri is really honing his place in the franchise. However, the leafs have only had a 3 game win streak, so it seems they can never really be an unbeatable team like the boston bruins. It seems that the leafs are really possible candidates to beat the 7 year streak of not making the playoffs, more info to come.

Toronto Maple Leafs

This is the year. This..Is..the year, that the leafs should win. At least this is what people have been saying since 1967, yet people are still die hard leafs fans no matter, what, even my dad knows they still wont win in his time. This season the leafs have delivered 362 hits, being named the #1 most physical team in the league, even more then Boston is. Also the leafs just destroyed the montreal canadians 6-0 just the other night, capping off the thought of the leafs being successful, in at least making the playoffs and heaven forbid the stanley cup. Its pretty interesting about this because of james van riemsdyk and phil kessel finally getting some points for the leafs after a drought for so long. Hopefully this is the year for them. In other news Washington is playing horribly, and cant seem to get ovechkin going now. It seems that Columbus is also playing decently well, and getting chances to win with a team that had no one, and is now still bad, but getting better. more news to come

Soccer Talk

So today marked an epic day in the English Premier League. First of all with Arsenal down to just 10 men against sunderland, they still managed to get a win 1-0. The match of the day though definetly has to go to the Southampton Vs. the 2nd place champions league champions, Manchester City. Southampton got ahead 2-0 in the first half with a mistake from Man City Goalie Joe Hart, and also an own goal. With Southampton being in second last place, it is a huge embarrassment for Manager Roberto Mancini, absolutely gruesome. In other news however, my personal favourite team Chelsea won 4-1 against Reading, complete obliteration. In the Tottenham vs Newcastle match, it was an insane game where Gareth bale scored from 25 yards out, just over the wall, and bottom corner, was a great goal. With a final score of 2-1 it temporarily put them in 3rd place before chelsea took it back. In general though, Champions league is coming up, with Manchester United vs Ronaldo and Real Madrid, and PSG and the new Beckham with his 5 month contract before his official retirement. People are going to be for sure live streaming these games, its hard to miss these powerhouse teams play eachother, especially from different leagues.
